ScryLect Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Poe Technology Holdings, LLC (“Poe Technology Holdings,” “we,” or “us”) handles information in ScryLect. ScryLect is a local-first, read-only mobile reader for PowerPoint speaker notes. It is available for Android and iOS.
Information ScryLect accesses and uses
When you choose a presentation, ScryLect accesses the selected .pptx file only to inspect it
and extract its speaker notes. It may also access the document provider URI, display name, and the read
permission granted through the Android document picker or the corresponding iOS file-selection flow. This
information is used only to open, display, search, and navigate the notes in the presentation you selected.
Information stored on your device
ScryLect stores the following information locally in its private app storage to provide recent-file and reader-preference features. It does not upload this information to Poe Technology Holdings or to a ScryLect server.
- Up to 12 recent presentation references, including the display name, last-opened time, last-viewed slide, and an opaque SHA-256 source fingerprint used to detect source changes.
- Reader preferences, such as appearance, note text size, and your keep-screen-awake choice.
What ScryLect does not collect or share
ScryLect does not collect, transmit, sell, or share your presentations or the local information described above. The current app has no account or sign-in, cloud synchronization, advertising, analytics, crash-reporting, social-login, or other third-party data-collection SDKs. It does not collect email addresses, contacts, location, microphone or camera data, advertising IDs, or analytics identifiers.
ScryLect does not transmit selected presentations to a ScryLect server in the current release. It does not edit, copy, or delete the underlying presentation from your storage provider.
Retention, removal, and permissions
Recent-presentation records remain on your device until you remove an individual record, clear recents, Android or iOS revokes access, a record is replaced, or you uninstall ScryLect. Removing a recent record removes its local metadata and releases ScryLect’s persisted read permission where applicable; it does not delete the original presentation. Session-only files are not retained as persistent recent records and may need to be selected again after the app closes.
ScryLect does not create accounts, so there is no account-deletion process. To remove all ScryLect data, clear the app’s data through the app or your device’s system settings, or uninstall the app. You can also revoke document-provider access through your device’s permission or file-provider controls where available.
